Fish Fry

This weekend we traveled back to Illinois to help celebrate Denny's 70th Birthday. Friday night we went to the county fair to watch the Tractor Pull. It was a lot of fun and we were able to see some family that we don't get to see very often.

Garrett and I were able to stay in the cabin which is so peaceful and quiet. It is always so nice to get out of the city and enjoy some quietness. I love the fact that my cell phone won't work there and we are able to enjoy the outdoors. Alex was there and was able to catch a couple blue gills while fishing.

Garrett's cousin Tommy planned a fish fry at the local camp ground. Garrett's dad was trying to thin out the fish in their pond and Tommy and his buddies had been fishing there and planning this fish fry for quite a while. We had no idea how big of a party this was going to be and how tasty the food was going to be. They had the operation down to a science and the food was delicious.

Denny's birthday present from the boys making the food was a 5lb. catfish, fried whole. I was able to steal a bite and it too was delicious.

The birthday boy enjoyed his meal and we stuffed ourselves with a delicious birthday cake.
