Happy (belated) Mothers Day

I meant to post this yesterday, but that just didn't happen. Garrett and I had a productive weekend around the house. It seems like life starts happening and we have something to do on most weekends, so we treasure the weekends where we get to stay at home and do things around the house. This weekends project was painting our shed. It went surprisingly fast and the weather was beautiful, so it really didn't turn out to be as much of a painful task as I initially thought it might turn into.

After working in the yard a majority of the day, we decided to order some crab rangoon pizza from Fongs and watch the Kentucky Derby. For some odd reason, I was able to pick out the winning horse. I should have mad a big wager, but of course, won nothing but bragging rights in our house.

Sunday (Mothers Day) I drove to Iowa City to see my sisters and Mom and Dad who were driving through from a wedding in Chicago. We had a nice brunch and went to Emily's to hold Scout. I hadn't seen her in a week or two and was amazed how much different she looked and how much stronger she is getting. Dad promised Anna and Grace a while ago that he would help them with a garden and they started working on that yesterday.

It was a beautiful weekend and I will close this post with a couple of beautiful pictures of our favorite mamas. We love them dearly and are so blessed to have their love and support. We love you guys!

Concerts

Garrett and I both love going to see live music and we both love the Iowa State Fair. When combining the two, its a perfect situation. Last year we went and saw Big and Rich at the fair and had a blast. This year the line up wasn't that great but we both decided that seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd would be fun. I enjoy seeing how good of seats I can get and it becomes a game to me. On Saturday morning, tickets went on sale at 10 am. I logged on ticket master right at 10 and still only got 12th row. I guess I was slow on the draw. Oh well, we will still have a blast and have great seats.

As for the rest of the weekend, we were pretty lazy. Sunday morning, I went and celebrated another 10th birthday this year. Happy Birthday to our little Julia who enters into the double digits on Wednesday.
